Benefits
“You will receive an accurate, consistent and reliable bookkeeping service.”
All Rosemary Bookkeepers are fully trained in The Rosemary System® and are part of our National Franchise Network which provides ongoing support, quality control and added reassurance of a superb service.
The Rosemary System® has intelligently systemised the process of bookkeeping so that every aspect is controlled to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness for the client.
Paperwork is standardised to ensure that accountants always receive client books the way they want – this means they can concentrate on added value work rather than spending time and additional costs making sense of client information.
The Rosemary Bookkeeping National Network of bookkeepers is backed by 4 entrepreneurial Directors who are award winning business women who have over 50 years combined bookkeeping, marketing and business experience across a wide set of industries.
You will always know exactly what you are paying for
We don’t charge by the hour, we charge by transaction. This means if we are slow or make a mistake, you won’t get charged. We always send a list of what we’ve done with our invoice – when there isn’t much work we charge you less, when there’s more work, we charge you more. It is a fair and transparent way of charging.
No more charges by the hour – you are only paying for work you can clearly see has been done
We won’t tread on your Accountant’s toes
We do bookkeeping NOT accounting. Although we prepare VAT returns, we leave accruals, prepayments and even depreciation decisions to your accountant. Rosemary Bookkeepers would rather be excellent at bookkeeping than pretend to do something that they are not qualified to do.
We aim to have a good working relationship with accountants so after your year end, we will give them all the information they require, just how they like it, which should make life easier for you and your accountant. We could even save you money off your accountant’s bill!
We will take the hassle away
We focus on what we do best – intelligently processing the bookkeeping – so you can focus on what you do best.
Making Tax Digital
Making Tax Digital (MTD) is a government initiative designed to transform the UK tax system, making it more effective, efficient, and easier for taxpayers to get their tax right. The vision was first introduced in Budget 2015, with a roadmap published later that year setting out plans for a fully digital tax system.
Since then, HMRC has been gradually rolling out MTD in stages:
These changes mark a major shift in how businesses and individuals interact with HMRC and manage their tax affairs.
What does this actually mean?
If you’re a sole trader or landlord earning over the relevant threshold, from April 2026 you’ll need to:
Now is the time to prepare—don’t wait until the deadline! Transitioning early can make the change smoother and give you time to find the best system for your needs.
At Rosemary Bookkeeping, we work with a range of MTD-compatible software providers and can help you find the best solution for your business.
What are the advantages of going digital?
Switching to digital accounting brings many benefits beyond MTD compliance. With cloud-based bookkeeping software, you can:
What software can I use?
Most mainstream accounting packages will be Making Tax Digital compliant, Rosemary Bookkeeping work with most of them, if you already use a compliant accounting package, we can work with you to get your records ready and up to date or we can help you decide on which is the right package for your business. See our Software page for more detail about the accounting packages we work with on a regular basis.
VAT Returns
Doing your bookkeeping online?
Using a cloud accounting/software system? How confident are you that your VAT return is right? Do you know when you can claim VAT? When you can’t?
Online VAT returns aren’t as straightforward as you think – can you answer these questions?
If you aren’t confident about the answers, then you shouldn’t be submitting your VAT Return to HMRC without it being checked by a reliable, knowledgeable bookkeeper.
Rosemary Bookkeeping can help – even if you are using online accounts software, let us check your VAT return before you send it off, you never know, you might find you are entitled to a VAT refund.
Let us focus on your bookkeeping so you can focus on making your business a success.

Who better to hear from?
We have found working with Rosemary Bookkeeping a very good experience. We found them very proactive in their approach and would not hesitate to use them again and refer their services to others.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and excellent work in assisting us firstly with selecting the right accounts platform to convert to but then also supporting us with the data transition and bringing the accounts up to date.
Not having had good experiences with our previous bookkeeper or accounting software, the whole idea of changing to a new system was not one that we looked forward to and, if I’m honest, one that we had been putting off for some time, compounding the issues. However, you made the process extremely simple, advised us clearly and concisely, and provided support consistently along the way.
We are now in a position, approaching year end, where our accounts are almost ready to pass to our Accountant to assess, some 9 months in advance of previous years – I’m not sure he’s going to believe us.
The service you provide is extremely professional, timely and cost effective; working with you is also a pleasure. I will not hesitate in referring your services to businesses and people that I know.
10/10 Friendly, fast and accurate. A great team of people
10/10 Excellent service, great team. 5 stars.
10/10 Happy with the service, our bookkeeper is amazing.
10/10 Keep up the good work
The best solution for any business is to use Rosemary Bookkeepers for all their bookkeeping needs.
Steve operates an efficient and well balanced package for his clients. As a bookkeeper, Steve provides clarity and quality in the information he provides and therefore creates synergy in the coming together of his book keeping and our accountancy services.
Steve Brown and their team from Rosemary have proved to be invaluable in helping set up our accounts and bookkeeping processes. Being an internet subscription based business, we receive many thousands of small payments across the globe and we also have sites/services based in different countries. This created lots of complications in both bookkeeping and VAT registration/reporting across different regions.
It was actually Rosemary, not our accountants, who were able to understood the model and complications best – Rosemary created the workflow and attended meetings so our accounts and VAT advisors could get the information the required. This is not something we expected our bookkeeper to be able to do and has saved us a lot of headaches!
We have since learned that Rosemary have a few internet businesses with similar models and issues to ours, and as a consequence have been able to offer us further free advice.
I couldn’t recommend Steve enough. We had some very tight deadlines to work to and Steve had to go far beyond the extra mile to help us meet these – no doubt he was working some very unreasonable hours! Had we been working with any other company or bookkeeper I dare say it would not have been possible for us to get through half what we needed to.
Additionally I’ve been incredibly impressed by the attention in setting up our books. We deal with a lot of international, multi currency payments and holding of funds in different currencies. As a result there are a lot of exchange rate adjustments that need to be made. Steve wanted to put in place a system that allowed us to track this far more accurately than our accountants had previously. This was a complete success and we’re now able to report our Forex gains/losses far more accurately than ever before.
TJ is as excellent accounts professional with a detailed knowledge of Sage accounting software. She is extremely diligent in all her work that she has undertaken for us but also keeps to our deadlines. TJ has become a valued member of our team and has integrated with our operation identifying system shortfalls accompanied with designing and training in all new processes.
I highly recommend TJ and her team to assist in taking your business forward.
Steve and TJ are two of the best bookkeepers I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. They are conscientious and professional, but at the same time very approachable and very easy to work with. We have worked together with several clients and the quality of their work is consistently high.
I have recommended them to business contacts and clients and I will continue to do so, because I know they provide an excellent service for a very reasonable fee.
When SMC Solar Ltd grew from a typical self-managed £65k turnover electrical contractor to a £1.2m solar panel installation business in less than 12 months, rapid and robust book-keeping and financial management had to be achieved. No longer could book-keeping be the Saturday evening pastime of the owner/manager – the typical plight of so many small businesses.
After a meeting with Steve Brown, a local book-keeper working under the ‘Rosemary’ franchise and using the ever popular SageTM accounting software, SMC Solar was able to get on with its business of installing renewable technologies while ‘Rosemary’ kept the books. The structured management of information, the gentle reminders on important deadlines, and the calm attention to detail by Steve Brown and his team provide SMC Solar with up-to-date management accounting information, payroll management and VAT management in a highly professional and cost-effective way suited to any small business with insufficient time or competence to do book-keeping in-house.
I would like to thank TJ for all her support and hard work in keeping my books and accounts in order. As a busy Holistic Therapist travelling to different therapy centres and people’s homes to give treatments, it leaves little time to spend on one of the most essential parts of any business- Bookkeeping.
TJ’s professional yet extremely friendly approach put me at ease, and gave me all the tools I needed to keep my payments and receipts in order. TJ is extremely patient and very understanding, taking the time to explain the Rosemary System®, an investment which has allowed me to be able to spend more time with my family.
TJ and Rosemary Bookkeeping provide a first class service and are without a doubt excellent value for money. I have no hesitation in recommending TJ and Rosemary to all my friends, family and work associates, Thank you TJ.
