Steve Brown and their team from Rosemary have proved to be invaluable in helping set up our accounts and bookkeeping processes. Being an internet subscription based business, we receive many thousands of small payments across the globe and we also have sites/services based in different countries. This created lots of complications in both bookkeeping and VAT registration/reporting across different regions.

It was actually Rosemary, not our accountants, who were able to understood the model and complications best – Rosemary created the workflow and attended meetings so our accounts and VAT advisors could get the information the required. This is not something we expected our bookkeeper to be able to do and has saved us a lot of headaches!

We have since learned that Rosemary have a few internet businesses with similar models and issues to ours, and as a consequence have  been able to offer us further free advice.

I couldn’t recommend Steve enough. We had some very tight deadlines to work to and Steve had to go far beyond the extra mile to help us meet these – no doubt he was working some very unreasonable hours! Had we been working with any other company or bookkeeper I dare say it would not have been possible for us to get through half what we needed to.

Additionally I’ve been incredibly impressed by the attention in setting up our books. We deal with a lot of international, multi currency payments and holding of funds in different currencies. As a result there are a lot of exchange rate adjustments that need to be made. Steve wanted to put in place a system that allowed us to track this far more accurately than our accountants had previously. This was a complete success and we’re now able to report our Forex gains/losses far more accurately than ever before.

TJ is as excellent accounts professional with a detailed knowledge of Sage accounting software. She is extremely diligent in all her work that she has undertaken for us but also keeps to our deadlines. TJ has become a valued member of our team and has integrated with our operation identifying system shortfalls accompanied with designing and training in all new processes.

Our previous bookkeeper retired on ill health and then began a series of individuals who were not really committed to the work and things got into a mess. In March 2012, I returned to the freelance consulting I had done in my more footloose days, after 10 years spent in senior academic, managerial and executive director posts, employed by universities and both large and small International Development charities.

After a total of over 30 years of PAYE employment across my professional career, having the benefit of Caroline’s accountancy experience and meticulousness has given me new confidence in that decision and, as importantly, as I find my feet afresh she is assisting me to do so within my current budget.
